In order for drama to be taught and performed at a level that touches the raw emotions of the audience, it needs to be conveyed in a manner that captures the reality of the human experience. This essence is then infused in the actors’ portrayal of their characters, and in the scene that they are playing, so that the actors can feel the emotions of the scene, which in turn inspires their acting to greater heights. Fundamentally, teaching actors how to perform their roles is no different to teaching professionals the fundamentals of body language. Each movement symbolises the same objective - A character portraying a spiteful antagonist would behave in a similar manner to the office bully, and would portray similar body language. How the protagonist would react to counter the aggression would be similar to how an office worker would need to react to neutralise the negative body language displayed by the bully. During this period, I felt there was need to know how the corporate sector in Malaysia contributes to the efforts to mitigate floods in Malaysia, as this is one of the major natural disasters which Malaysians face every year. This book writeup spanned for over seven years, where we collected data from various secondary sources and in-depth interview with many of the stakeholders involved in handling floods in Malaysia. The main purpose of this book is to provide an overview on the efforts towards flood mitigation from the Malaysian listed companies. The book contains analysis about the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts from more than 900 companies which was listed in Bursa Malaysia in 2014-2015. Many of the findings and recommendations presented in this book is suitable to the contemporary research work in CSR. The book begins with the introduction to disaster management and CSR in the chapter 1. Chapter 2 presents the literature review of the research in the field of disaster management in Malaysia. In Chapter 3, we explain about the methodology used for this research and gives an idea to the readers on how this study was conducted. Finally, Chapter 4, 5 and 6 summarizes the findings, conclusions, and recommendations of this study. Action research can be a powerful form of liberating professional inquiry about a problem as such the practitioner and/or researcher could themselves investigate their practices and find solutions for the problem's approach. As such, action research is a methodology that combines ‘action’ and ‘research’ together. During a study, the practitioner and/ or researcher performed the current work practice and reflected on what has happened and used this information to plan their intervention. The idea is to provide the solution based on the research methodology and data analysis with validation through a mixed-method approach of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Through this, the intervention or solution is formulated and implemented as required for the next course of action. The process of action research has a refining effect on action and the practitioner and/or researcher will gain an understanding of the work process performed. Through the reflection cycle, the practitioner and/or researcher will then provide the required justification, that the intervention did enhance the work process and provide the improvements as required.</p> <p>As compared to applied research, action research allows the researcher to implement their solutions as an intervention to the work process. And using empirical evidence utilizing the mixed-mode approach of data analysis, researchers and/or practitioners are able to carry out the reflections on their intervening solutions to ensure that the solutions are effective in solving the current problems at hand.
